BACKGROUND

Saltanat Kamillya (“Kamillya”) is Mr. Lanin’s paralegal and legal assistant. She assists the firm with commercial litigation, foreclosure and loan modification, bankruptcy, business and real estate law, and collection/creditor’s rights matters.

Kamillya majored in Legal Studies at Berkeley College where she received numerous awards for academic excellence and a perfect 4.0 Grade Point Average.

Kamillya previously worked as a Legal Assistant at JurisSolutions, a company that deals with expert witnesses. Her responsibilities included scheduling medical examinations, record reviews, and depositions in connection with worker’s compensation, litigation over liability claims, and disability. She used practice management software to maintain a database for clients and claimants. She reviewed and organized claim documents, including medical records and forms. She coordinated with staff members and maintained billing records.

Kamillya has the professional skills and training that are an integral part of a busy, successful law office.  Her prior experience and training makes her well-suited to manage multiple responsibilities.  She has excellent management, interpersonal, multitasking, and communication skills. She is a team member who is organized and focuses on detail and high accuracy.

Kamillya is trained in several programs, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Clio (Cloud File Management), Adobe, Google Docs, Powerpoint, and Next Chapter Bankruptcy software. She assists Attorney Scott Lanin with the preparation of court documents, including summons and complaints, answers, subpoenas, affidavits, legal briefs (memoranda of law), and exhibits, and with online searches and e-filing on the New York State Case Electronic Filing System, the Federal Electronic Case Filing system, PACER, and ACRIS.

Kamillya is also trilingual. Having come to the United States from Kazakhstan, she is fluent in English , Russian, and Kazakh. She became a proud U.S. citizen in March 2023. Her duties include managing the firm’s litigation calendar, drafting and filing legal documents, and managing our office (administration and billing). She is our client liaison, communicating with clients in person in the office or by zoom video, by phone, and by email. Our clients find her positive demeanor and helpful attitude reassuring.
