INTERNSHIPS
Lanin Law P.C.’s internship program has been a success for decades. Some schools refer to this as an externship. We use the terms intern and extern interchangeably. Interns are taught litigation skills, contract, real estate, business, foreclosure, and bankruptcy law, court and law office procedures, and practical tips to help them become better lawyers and paralegals in the future. The specific work will vary from one semester to the next. The firm has sponsored academic credit internships for paralegals and legal assistants with various schools throughout New York, including paralegal training programs, colleges, universities and law schools.
Students work directly with Attorney Scott Lanin on actual cases. He has personally trained more than 100 student interns and legal assistants since the 90’s, supervising more than 16,000 hours of sudent work.
If you are interested in applying for an academic credit internship with our firm, please email Attorney Scott Lanin to apply. Applications should include a current resume, cover letter, and unofficial transcript. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required. We schedule virtual interviews for qualified candidates on Microsoft Teams video. We have a selective process and recommend that interested students apply as early as possible before the next semester.
Our internships offer students an excellent learning opportunity to see how a small firm operates. Interns gain hands-on real experience drafting legal documents in word. Interns are trained and learn how to become litigation attorneys or paralegals. We have received very positive feedback from our interns and from college and law school externship, career, and placement directors and offices. Students find the experience a challenging and rewarding one and enjoy the friendly small-office environment. Internships are currently only available through law school programs that offer academic credit. We work a hybrid schedule (in-office and remote). Students receive an evaluation and reference at the conclusion of the internship. We have also provided recommendations and career advice to our student interns. Meet our past student interns below!
